SIMON
What was the last book
you read?
"i take about
a year and a half to read a book, but I'm reading Ian Johnston's
Nick Cave biography at the moment. I only generally read on tour."
Do you drive?
"I have a
1978 Scimitar. Really nice looking, but it's always breaking
down."
Do you have a favourite
painter?
"I'm not a
big art aficionado. I do prefer filmes. The last film I saw was
Elizabeth. Bizarrely, Princess Margaret was sitting behind
me in the cinema, at Kensington Odeon. Very Strange, the Queen's
sister watching a film about puttin the Queen's sister in jail
and having her beheaded."
Your favourite building?
"I love that
Ark building on the main road through Hammersmith. I also like
the Trellick Tower [deeply Suede-esque West London tower blcok,
said to have inspired by JG Ballard nove High Rise].
It's such an amazing sight as you come down the A40."
What's your favourite
TV programme?
"I have all
Alan Partridge on video, which is the funniest thing I've ever
seen on TV. I thought Queer as Folk was absolutely brilliant,
if maybe a little too graphic. And EastEnder remains a
constant favourite."
How many pairs of trainers
do you own?
"None, I totally
avoid them. In fact, I haven't worn anything buy DMs since I
was 11."
